Abstract
The aim is to determine the role of innovation in increasing production in Mexico’s aerospace industry, using patents granted and filed in this sector as a reference. An econometric causality analysis is employed, with those patents serving as independent variables; a dummy variable is introduced to account for the effects of covid-19 on production. Preliminary results show that an increase in patents –due to improvements in manufacturing processes, the development of new products or services, and operational and logistical planning– has a positive effect on production.
